What Referral Market collects, why, and how to have it removed.

What we collect

When you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name, your email address, and an account number that identifies you to this site. We do not receive your Google password, and we do not ask for access to your mail, contacts, or files.

When you list a business or apply as a connector, we keep what you enter: your name, email address, business or company name, city and state, your category or role, what you want to count as a referral, and any fee you mention.

We keep the time you last signed in and the time you accepted the rules on an application.

When a business posts a listing, we keep its terms. When a connector creates a pass, we keep the listing, the time, the connector, the time the business marked the customer as arrived and who marked it, and later the business's answer: confirmed or declined, the fee, how many customers or sales it counted, any sale amount it enters, the reason given for a decline, and when the fee was billed and paid.

A connector can add a short note to a pass, to tell it from their other passes, and can choose to show that note to the business. We keep the note.

When you save a listing to find it again, we keep which listings you saved.

When you suggest a business, we keep what you entered about it and that it came from you. If it joins, we email you to say so. A suggestion stays after your account is deleted, without your name or email.

A business can add its street address and opening hours. Connectors see them on its listings, and anyone can see them on its public listings.

When a business adds someone to its staff list, we keep that person's email address, any name the owner enters for them, and who added them, and for each pass the business answers we keep which account answered it.

A business can give a connector's code a name of its own, so it can tell its connectors apart. We keep that name.

When you write to us through the contact page, we keep your name, email address, and message.

If you arrived from a link we sent you, we also keep the reference code in that link.

Customers who are given a pass

A pass does not ask for your name, phone number, or email. We record the time the pass link is first opened.

The person who gave you the pass may add a short note to it, such as the size of your party, and may show that note to the business. The note is never shown on the pass itself.

Who sees what

A business sees the connector code on each pass created for it, and what that connector's passes for it came to. It does not see the connector's name or email address. A name the business gives a code is seen by that business and its staff only, never by the connector or by other businesses.

The owner of a business and its staff see who answered each pass, by the name the owner entered or else by email address, so the business can tell who did what.

A connector's note on a pass is seen by that connector, by Referral Market, and by the business and its staff only when the connector chose to show it. It is deleted with the connector's account.

When a business enters a connector's code, the business sees that code, and the connector sees the business's name, city, whether it was approved, and the introduction bonus it has earned them. Neither sees the other's name or email address through Referral Market.

A connector also sees each business's record over the last 90 days: how many referrals it confirmed and how often it answered the passes it was sent.

A connector sees a business's name, category, city, and listing terms. For each of their own passes they see when the link was first opened, whether it was confirmed or declined, and the fee recorded. Where the fee is a share of a sale, the fee shows the size of that sale.

Cookies

Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days, or until you sign out. A second, short-lived cookie is used only while Google is confirming who you are.

The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Your Night view choice is saved in your own browser. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses.

How it is used

We use it to review businesses and connectors, to run listings and passes, to keep the record of each referral, to work out what is billed and paid each week, and to contact you about your account.

New applications and contact messages are also emailed to Referral Market's own mailbox, so they are seen promptly.

Payments go through Stripe. We give Stripe a business's name and email to send its bills, and a connector's email to start their payout account. Stripe collects card, bank and tax details itself under its own privacy policy, and tells us only whether a bill was paid and whether a connector's account is ready to be paid into.

We send email only about your own account: that an application was approved, that a business answered one of your passes, that a business added you to its staff, or, if the business chose it for a listing, that a new pass was created for it. We do not send marketing email.

It is not sold. It is stored with Railway, the company that hosts this site, and is read only by Referral Market. Sign-in is handled by Google. Email is sent through Gmail, and a daily backup copy is kept in Referral Market's own Google Drive for about a month.

Seeing or removing it

Email referralmarket.site@gmail.com to see, correct, or delete what we hold about you.

When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your sign-in, your saved listings, and every application that has no pass recorded against it. Where passes exist, the record of those passes is kept, with your name, email address, and notes removed from it. A business's name stays on the passes it answered, so connectors can still read their own record.

A deleted record leaves our backup copies within about a month.
