Know the fee before you make the recommendation.
Referral Market lists what local businesses pay for a referred customer and keeps the record of every referral you send.
What it pays
Listings open area by area. Each one shows its fee before you send anyone.
Every listing shows its fee, what has to happen for it to count, and the business's record over the last 90 days: how many referrals it confirmed and how often it answers its passes.
Getting paid
- What it costs you
- Nothing. Joining and creating passes are free.
- When a fee counts
- When the business confirms your pass. You see each answer on your Earnings page.
- When you are paid
- Weekly. The business is billed each week for what it confirmed, and you are paid in the first weekly payment after it pays. A late bill moves your fee to a later week; it is not lost.
- When you bring in a business
- If it joins with your code, you also earn a tenth of our service fee on every referral it confirms and pays for in its first year, whoever sends the customer.
- If a business does not answer
- Its record shows it, so you can send people elsewhere. Tell us about a wrong answer from the pass itself.

How a referral works
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open a listing and read its terms: the fee, what counts, and how long the referral stays valid. |
| 2 | Create a pass. The customer scans it from your phone, or you send them its link, so it is on their phone. |
| 3 | The customer shows the pass at the business, which scans it or types its number and confirms the referral. That records your fee. |
| 4 | At the end of the week the business is billed. You are paid once it has paid that bill. |
Rules
- The customer chooses where to go. You recommend and never steer.
- If a customer asks whether you are paid for the recommendation, you tell them.
- If you drive for Uber, Lyft or another app, or work for a hotel or other employer, its rules come first. Some do not allow recommending businesses for pay, or require you to say so. Check before you start.
- You follow the laws and licensing rules where you work.
